We had a wild storm yesterday that began with a sudden strong wind. One of our builders was knocked by a branch as he stood on a ladder. The Red Ash tree (Alphitonia excelsa) on the corner of the pavilion dropped quite a number of branches. The power went off for the rest of the day. Probably a power line came down in the wind.
A number of Sacred Kingfishers (Halcyon sancta) are using our water pipe as a perch to watch for prey. Kingfishers look very much like kookaburras but are much smaller and more brightly coloured. The pipe runs over the river so it affords them a good view of both fish and small land animals.
