We are part of a project instigated by Bellingen Landcare which successfully sought government funding for upper Bellinger River resortation work. By March next year we will be placing timber retard fences at right angles to the river in the hope of slowing any flood waters and encouragning the deposit of silt, soil etc as the river flow slows. We will also be planting around 1000 native species to revegetate the river bank. This will provide habitat for native species such Bellinger River Emydura (Emydura macquarii) and platypus.
