our new gate

Billy Browning has finished building our new gate. It has two purposes.

It will keep the roaming deer out of our place. The deer are escapees from a farm further up the valley and they conduct nocturnal feeding sprees in our place and of course they go for all the new seedling trees we've planted. The deer aren't native to Australia and we feel there is a danger that they will breed up and become a big feral population that will eventually have a negative imapact on native vegetation and wildlife.

The second good thing about this gate is that we and our visitors can now drive through our place rather than having to back around and go out the way they came in.
