On 11 Sep 2013 an inquiry was conducted by Greyhound Racing NSW into a urine sample taken from a greyhound called "Phanton Jewels" after it won a race on 19 Feb 2013 at Lismore NSW. Why it took seven months to complete the inquiry isn't stated!
The greyhound's trainer Mr John Free admitted to having administered a preparation known as Tepro testosterone propionate to the greyhound. Tepro testosterone propionate is an anabolic steroid which can be bought on the black market in Australia.
Mr Free pleaded guilty and was fined $2000. Phanton Jewels was disqualified.
