phyllurus cornutus

It took me about 30 seconds to figure out that this wasn't some kind of nuclear fallout mutant. Saw a leaf mixed with cobwebs and what looked like legs. If they really were legs, it had a head shaped like a leaf!

I think its a Northern Leaf-tailed Gecko. The tail can be dropped and regrown. It's nocturnal and apparently sluggish relying on its camouflage rather than escape as a means of avoiding predators.

This little guy is making its home on my verandah where there's plenty of spiders to eat. It's usual home is the rainforest floor under fallen bark and dead tree branches.
